How The Afshar Law Firm stopped babysitting its website.
Eman Afshar didn't want to think about his website. He wanted it to work, send him leads, and get out of the way. Six years later, it does. When the firm needs something new, he sends one text.

Meet The Afshar Law Firm
Founded in 2016, The Afshar Law Firm is a Houston practice focused on personal injury, construction, and business law, with international work on top thanks to founder Eman Afshar's LL.M. in International Law. The firm runs a no-fee-unless-we-win model for injury clients, carries Super Lawyers, Avvo 10.0, and BBB A+ ratings, and has a reputation for taking the cases other firms pass on. Eman is the kind of client who opens a text with “Hey buddy” and means it.
The problem
Talk to any small-firm attorney and you'll hear the same thing: the website is one more client that never stops calling.
By 2022, Eman was paying a hosting company for a WordPress site that mostly just sat there. By early 2024 it had a disclaimer popup that fired every time a visitor clicked a tab. Close it, click Contact, and there it was again. The software behind it was out of date. And there was no form putting inquiries straight into Eman's inbox, which for a personal injury firm means a potential client with a real case bouncing off the site and calling someone else.
He didn't need a marketing strategy. He needed the thing to work, and someone to call when it didn't.
What we did
The same thing we've done for six years: whatever the firm needed next, without making Eman project-manage it.
- 2020
Print.
Designed a magazine ad for the firm’s personal injury and business practice: black background, scales-of-justice watermark, the firm’s shield logo, and copy set in both English and Farsi for the community the firm serves.
- 2023
Hosting rescue.
Moved the domain off the old host onto Cursive’s dedicated server, so Eman could stop paying a company that wasn’t doing anything for him.
- 2024
Made the site behave.
Removed the runaway disclaimer popup, updated the software stack, and built a contact form that sends every inquiry straight to Eman. Kicked off a blog program with our writing team.
- 2026
Played well with others.
When Eman brought in an outside contractor for maintenance, we handed over admin access the same day he asked. His site, his call.
- Now
The rebuild.
Moving the firm off WordPress entirely onto a custom-coded Next.js site: a dark, editorial design built around Eman himself, eight practice-area pages, a no-fee-unless-we-win section, a four-step “how it works,” live Google reviews, an FAQ, a case-evaluation form at the top and bottom of every page, and a Spanish toggle. Faster, harder to break, and built so the firm can keep publishing without hiccups.
Nothing flashy. The unusual part is that six years in, he still has one number to text.
What changed
No dashboard screenshots here. Eman doesn't live in analytics, and we're not going to invent a percentage. Here's what he tells us:
More case inquiries.
Since the form went live, Eman says more potential clients are reaching him through the site.
The site stopped being embarrassing.
The popup is gone, the forms work, and the firm’s credentials show up the way they should.
One less bill.
He’s not paying the old host anymore.
One text to fix anything.
Popup back? Contractor needs a login? Ready for a new site? It’s a text, not a ticket.
I've worked with Cursive for six years now. They've done our print ads, helped with IT, moved our website off the old host, and fixed it when it was acting up. When something's wrong I send one text and it gets handled. I don't have to think about it, which is exactly what I want.
Sound familiar?
If your firm's website is something you dread opening, or you're paying a host for a site that hasn't sent you a lead in months, that's fixable, and it doesn't have to become your second job. That's the whole point of our website redesign work: we take the site off your plate, then keep it there. Starting from scratch in Houston instead? That's our Houston website design page.
